How to Choose MAcnas Purple Headphones
-
Check the form factor
Both models on this list use an open-ear clip design. This style sits outside the ear canal rather than inserting into it. You should choose this form if you want to hear ambient sounds like traffic or other people while you listen. This is critical for runners who need situational awareness. Closed-back headphones block outside noise, but open-ear designs keep you safe. The MAcnas M79 and M100 both share this open-ear structure, so you are choosing between two variations of the same acoustic approach.
-
Verify wireless connectivity
Look for Bluetooth support in the specifications. Both the MAcnas Open Ear Clip Purple and the M100 model list wireless connectivity. This means you can stream audio from your phone without tangled cords. You should check if the Bluetooth version is listed for range and stability, though both support this core feature. Wireless freedom allows you to move during workouts without cable interference. If you need a wired backup, neither model explicitly lists a 3.5mm jack, so rely on the wireless link for your audio source.
-
Assess water resistance
Check the water resistance rating if you plan to use these headphones in the rain or during intense sweating. Both the M79 and M100 models are described as waterproof. This specification suggests they can handle exposure to moisture better than standard electronics. You should verify the exact IP rating if available, as waterproofing varies in intensity. For most active users, this protection ensures the headphones survive your workout routine without damage. Do not submerge them unless the specs confirm full submersion capability.
-
Review recommended use
Match the recommended use to your primary activity. The M79 is best for active users seeking open-ear clarity, specifically noting running. The M100 is also suited for sports but highlights situational awareness. If your main goal is running, the M79 is the top pick. If you prioritize comfort and a lighter feel, the M100 is a strong alternative. Both are designed for sports, so neither is intended for stationary listening in a quiet office. Choose the one that aligns with your movement patterns.
-
Compare physical dimensions
Examine the size and weight to ensure a secure fit. The M79 measures 2.5 by 2.5 by 1.1 inches and weighs 3.56 ounces. The M100 is lighter at 1.65 ounces. You should consider how much weight you can tolerate on your ears for extended periods. The clip design relies on a snug fit, so the dimensions matter for stability. If you have a smaller head or prefer minimal pressure, the lighter M100 might be more comfortable. Check the width to ensure it clips securely without slipping during motion.
