Who it fits
Good fit for
You should consider these headphones if you need reliable noise cancellation for commuting or travel. The 22-hour battery life suits long trips where charging options are limited. The rapid charge feature helps if you forget to plug them in overnight. The flat-folding design fits easily into bags or backpacks. If you use the Tile app to track lost items, the built-in finding technology adds peace of mind. The physical buttons are useful if you prefer tactile controls over touch surfaces.
Who should skip it
You might want to look elsewhere if you need a wired connection option. The data lists only Bluetooth and USB-C connectivity. If you require a 3.5mm audio jack for direct device connection, this model does not include it. You should also skip this if you need high-resolution audio codecs beyond standard Bluetooth. Verdict: The Skullcandy Hesh ANC headphones offer solid noise cancellation and long battery life in a portable package. They are a practical choice for travelers who value convenience and tracking features.
Key specs explained for Skullcandy Hesh ANC
Form Factor: Over-ear
This design places cushions around your ears rather than inside the canal. You get a secure seal that helps block outside noise passively. It is ideal for long listening sessions because it distributes pressure evenly. Compare this to in-ear models if you prefer minimal bulk or need to stay aware of your surroundings while moving through busy areas.
Battery Life: Up to 22 hours
The listing states you can listen for up to 22 hours on a single charge. This duration covers multiple days of commuting or a full workday without needing to plug in. Rapid charge features add three hours of playback from just ten minutes of power. Check this against your daily usage to ensure you rarely need to carry a charger.
Noise Cancellation: 4-mic ANC
Active noise cancellation uses four microphones to detect and counter ambient sound waves. You experience quieter surroundings, which helps you focus on music or calls in noisy environments like airplanes or offices. This is distinct from passive isolation. Compare this spec to other headphones to see if the microphone count aligns with your need for deep silence.
Connectivity: Bluetooth, USB-C
Bluetooth allows you to connect wirelessly to phones, tablets, or laptops without tangled wires. USB-C provides the charging interface, which is a standard connector for many modern devices. You benefit from reduced clutter and faster charging speeds compared to older proprietary ports. Ensure your devices support these standards for seamless pairing and power delivery.
Design and Build Overview
The Skullcandy Hesh ANC headphones feature a flat-folding and collapsible design. According to the listing, this structure enhances portability without sacrificing durability. You can easily tuck them into a bag or carry-on. The physical dimensions are 4.33 inches in width, 10.8 inches in height, and 8.07 inches in length. The weight is 8.04 ounces. This mass is manageable for daily commutes or travel. It does not feel overly heavy on your head for extended periods.
The finish comes in True Black. This color choice offers a neutral look that fits most environments. The model number S6HHW-B957 identifies this specific variation. You get a single unit or a pack of two. The build prioritizes function over flashy aesthetics. The materials are not explicitly detailed beyond the structural design, but the folding mechanism suggests a focus on compact storage.
Controls are located on the ear cup. You have dedicated buttons for call management, volume adjustment, and track skipping. You can answer or reject calls directly. This layout keeps your hands free. There is no touch surface mentioned, which reduces accidental inputs. The design supports a straightforward user experience. You do not need to navigate complex gestures. The physical buttons provide clear feedback for every action. This approach suits users who prefer tactile control over touch interfaces.
Setup and Daily Use Guide
You begin by connecting the Skullcandy Hesh ANC headphones via Bluetooth. The listing confirms wireless connectivity as a core feature. This allows you to pair the device with your phone, tablet, or computer without cables. The package includes an extra USB-C charging cable. You can use this 1.6-foot, 15-watt cable to power the headphones. The battery life is rated at up to 22 hours. This duration supports extended listening sessions without frequent recharging. If you need a quick boost, the rapid charge feature provides three hours of playback from just ten minutes of charging. This is practical for commuters or travelers who have limited time between activities. During daily use, you control the device with physical buttons. These controls let you answer or reject calls, adjust volume, and skip tracks. You do not need to rely solely on voice commands or touch gestures. The four-microphone active noise cancellation system works in the background. It processes external sound to reduce ambient noise, allowing you to focus on audio content. For portability, the flat-folding design helps you store the headphones compactly. You can also use the built-in Tile finding technology. By registering the product in the Tile App, you can locate the headphones if they are misplaced. The over-ear form factor ensures a secure fit. The cushions surround your ears, which helps maintain a consistent seal during movement. This setup requires no complex configuration. You simply pair, charge, and wear.
Before You Buy This Model
You should verify that your primary devices support Bluetooth pairing for seamless wireless connectivity. While the headphones include an extra USB-C cable, ensure you have a compatible 15-watt charger for rapid charging. The 10-minute charge provides three hours of listening, which is useful for quick top-ups. You will need to register the product in the Tile App to use the built-in finding technology. Keep the cushions clean to maintain comfort during long sessions. This model fits well among other over-ear options if you prioritize active noise cancellation and portable design. Check if the flat-folding mechanism suits your bag size. The 22-hour battery life supports extended use, but you may need a case for protection. Consider if the button controls meet your preference for track and volume adjustments. Ensure the over-ear fit is comfortable for your head shape before relying on them for daily commutes or travel.
